about

This is the lost Christian reggae album of 1985 with bonus tracks, "Starvation On The Land", "A Young One Like Me" and "Work And Pray".

In 1979 Nadine Sutherland made her musical debut by winning the "Tastee Talent Show". Her performance so impressed Tuff Gong Music that they immediately signed her to a recording contract. From the release of her first single, "Starvation On the Land" in 1979, (now available on her 1985 debut album, "Unitl" with her friends as backing singers, including Desmond Young, Cynthia Schloss, Pam Hall and others providing backing vocals behind her, musicians including Dalton & Cleveland Browne, Earl 'Bagga' Walker and others and her producers Willie Lindo and Anthony 'Sangie' Davis) at the age eleven, Little Nadine "The Teen Queen" as Nadine is popularly known in Jamaica sang her way into the hearts of all Jamaicans. Her rear combination of talent, beauty and modesty immediately single her out as someone special. Her subsequent powerful releases "A Young One Like Me", "Work and Pray" (now available as extra bonus tracks on the same album) and "Hands and Hearts" established her as a true find of the '80s. During metoric rise on the Jamaican entertainment scene Nadine has picked up several awards along the way - "RJR Best Female Vocalist 1980", "Jamaica Arts Award - Best Upcoming Artist 1980", "Jamaica Music Teachers Classical Award 1983" and the "Rockers Magazine Best Female Artist 1984", to name a few.
In her first album Nadine emerges like a butterfly from a cocoon, full of an exciting new energy and love for life. A talent comes of age, this young. Tuff Gong protege has fulfilled her early promises and without any apologies announces to the world that 'a star is born'.
